Game Developers Conference 2007, San Francisco, CA - Nokia today announced the SNAP Mobile Compliance Testing Program.
By implementing a groundbreaking initiative, the SNAP Mobile Compliance Testing Program, Nokia is ensuring that developers can create connected games that offer consumers a consistent game-playing experience. The program will promote uniform quality and functionality of the connected features in the mobile games and limit development costs by combining a self-testing along with a traditional certification program. The first phase lets developers self-test their own games for free using the provided testing tool. After completing the self-test, developers will be required to submit their applications for compliance testing, which will be conducted by SNAP Mobile-authorized testing houses.

Nokia’s SNAP (Scalable Network Application Package) Mobile has added several tools and services, including its Compliance Testing Program and a new Emulation Environment. The Compliance Testing Program gives developers an easy and cost-effective way to ensure that their games meet the high standards set for the SNAP Mobile platform. With the new Emulation Environment, the server environment can be simulated to speed up the development cycle. Many other features have also been made available to game developers, such as added security functions, enhanced Javadocs instructions, and new sample applications.
SNAP Mobile will present these and many other new tools and resources at the GDC 2007 March 7-10 in San Francisco, Booth 426.

It looks like a new word in mobile phones customization. The screensaver generator by Red Dodo makes personalized screen savers for mobile phones. The animated gif is created on the fly and can be downloaded to the computer through the browser or directly to your mobile from their WAP page. As far as I know, not all the phones are capable to play screensavers and animated wallpapers.
My Sony Ericsson plays both of them :)
Generally it quite good idea, only, it would be good to see more templates.

The latest addition to Nokia’s Carbide family of mobile-development tools, Carbide.ui offers WYSIWYG ease of use, drag-and-drop functionality, and seamless interplay with leading graphics creation tools. Developers and others with no prior experience in mobile UI design or knowledge of coding language can use the Carbide.ui Theme editor to customize all S60 UI elements, from background graphics and navigation bars to colors, sounds, and morphing effects. Once a Theme has been created, Carbide.ui S60 Theme Edition automatically packages it into an installation file and prepares it for Open Mobile Alliance (OMA) digital rights management (DRM) protection, if required, after which it will be ready for deployment to devices.

Nokia has enhanced S60 3rd Edition with a range of features that enable manufacturers of mobile devices to create smartphones for various user segments. The new S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 1 introduces features that include browsing, location capabilities, and device management functions. A single browser now supports both the full Web and mobile-optimized content. Browsing is made more compelling with a variety of features, such as auto complete, password manager, and a floating toolbar that gives quick and easy access to the most-used features. Advanced device management features enable businesses to manage add-on applications remotely, and the full-featured location middleware in the S60 platform makes it possible to efficiently create location solutions. Feature Pack 1 is backward-compatible with S60 3rd Edition, and applications developed for Feature Pack 1 will also run on 3rd Edition devices.
